Bob Mims, CPA is a C-level accounting & finance executive with more than 28 years of demonstrated success within internationally renowned corporations. He is a proven leader and recognized expert among large and small organizations. A nationally respected educator and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Advisory Committees Member, Bob Mims, CPA presently works as an Executive Financial Consultant for ML Weeks Consultants, Visible Music College, Concordia Seminary, and Give Good.

Bob Mims, CPA graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy. He earned his CPA accreditation licensure shortly after. Prior to working as a consultant, Bob Mims, CPA served as Corporate Controller and Director of Investments for Ducks Unlimited, Inc. from 1998 to 2016. He also held the role of Chief Financial Officer for Wetlands America Trust where he changed the course of the company’s financial habits to create a ‘surplus strategy’ resulting in $20.5M surplus, and designed a financial strategy which created $67M endowment growth (from $3M-$70M), among numerous achievements.

Apart from being a member of the advisory council of the FASB, Bob Mims, CPA is also Co-Founder and Chairperson of CFO Roundtable for Environmental Nonprofits, and part of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) where he grew the conference 40% to approximately 2,000 attendees under his chairmanship. He also ranked as one of the top five overall teachers for the AICPA Not-for-Profit Industry Conference every year from 2002 to 2016 against 150+ additional teachers’ sessions.

Bob Mims, CPA has written for The Journal of Accountancy, The Land Trust Alliance “Saving Land,” The NonProfit Times and AICPA “Audit Committee” Tool Kit. His works include “Using Surplus Budgeting to Advance Your Mission (Feb 2017),” “Strategic Planning for NFP’s (Nov 2015),” “Endowments: The Gifts That Keep on Giving (Fall 2015),” “What CFOs Really Want (Mar 2010),” “Benchmarking: When All Things Are Not Created Equal (Jan/Feb 2006 cover story),” and “Facing the Music: Who Should Answer Financial Questions (Feb 2004).”

Outside his work as CFO and CPA, Bob Mims, CPA is active with civic and community involvement. He is part of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-3, a Deacon at the Second Presbyterian Church, a Sunday School Teacher for elementary, high school, and adult level classes, and a basketball coach for St. Agnes Academy.
